Happy Birthday, São Paulo!

On this lovely day 457 years ago, São Paulo was born! And that means that today is a holiday for those working in offices in the city. That also means that Brazil’s largest city has changed quite a lot over the years. The now-thriving metropolis of 11 million people wasn’t always dominated by skyscrapers and cultures from all over the world. And if you’d like to see it as it used to be, although not so long ago, you can click here. The link in the article shows some amazing aerial pictures comparing São Paulo in 1958 and 2008. I’m sure it had more trees when it started and has more buildings now, but it gives you a good idea of how quickly a city can change. Here’s to 457 more years of growth for São Paulo, the city I now call home!
